Functions
The Forum for the Social Integration of Immigrants has the following functions:
- To made proposals and recommendations aimed at promoting the integration of immigrants and refugees into Spanish society.
- To receive information about the programmes and activities conducted by the General State Administration, the Administrations of the Autonomous Communities and Local Administrations in the field of social integration of immigrants.
- To gather and channel proposals made by social organisations active in the field of immigration, with a view to facilitating perfect coexistence between immigrants and the host society.
- To prepare an annual report about the work and activities conducted.
- To produce an annual report about the state of play as regards the social integration of immigrants and refugees.
- To draw up reports on proposals, plans and programmes that may affect the social integration of immigrants, on its own initiative or when ordered to so by the relevant bodies of the General State Administration.
- To promote or prepare studies and initiatives on issues related to the social integration of immigrants and refugees.
- To cooperate with other similar international, regional and local bodies to coordinate and improve all actions that benefit the social integration of immigrants and refugees.
- To issue a mandatory report on the draft regulations of the General State Administration affecting social integration of immigrants, as well as on national plans and programmes related to this matter, prior to their approval.
- Any other actions deemed necessary concerning the integration into Spanish society of immigrants in the country legally, as well as any other function attributed to it by current provisions.
